Who We Are
The Denmark Medical Office Preservation Group has been formed to oversee preservation - and movement to a new, permanent site - of the second-oldest structure still standing in Forsyth County, the Hansard house. This 130 year-old structure housed multiple generations of several Forsyth County families, and most recently served as the medical office for famed centenarian pediatrician Dr. Leila Denmark.
A coalition of county leadership, real estate developer Lennar Corp., historical house moving specialists, interested citizens, and members of the Denmark family have joined together to preserve this piece of history - to ensure that it and its legacy will continue to inspire not only local residents, but all those who wish to learn about the rich history of the structure and its most famous occupant.
We are working closely with the North Georgia Community Foundation – which manages grants and charitable donations to numerous causes in 17 counties – and which will do the financial tracking and reporting on this Denmark Office Preservation project. Your donations are 100% tax deductible
And – most importantly - you too can be a part of this team to help preserve an important part of Forsyth County history!
